Band placement is determined by a student’s performance on their quarterly musical skill assessment. Each band rehearses once a week for 1.5 hours as they prepare to record a CD and perform at the end-of-session concert. The program for each upcoming concert is thematic in nature, often reflecting the music of a specific decade or artist. Concerts are held at local music venues or the Rock School Music Venue
